A 39-year-old Dubbo man will appear in Dubbo Local Court after being charged following a drug raid by police yesterday.
Detectives, general duties officers and the tactical operations unit combined to arrest the man in Eumung Street before executing a search warrant on a residence in Cardiff Arms Avenue where a quantity of drugs, believed to be ice, heroin or speed, was discovered.
The police were acting on information given by members of the public and yesterday the man was charged with supplying a prohibited substance.
Orana duty officer Inspector Matt Scott said the assistance of the community had proved vital in the man’s arrest.
“Information we receive from the public often proves to be the link in that chain that allows police to move
in on a matter,” Insp Scott said.
“On this occasion the tactical operations unit was able to locate the man in a car in Eumung Street and he assisted police without incident.
“We were lucky that we had the information relating to this drug activity and we were able to act and take this person and the drugs off the street.”
Yesterday’s arrest happened at about 10.30am when the man in question was tracked down in a car in Eumung Street, in an area of South Dubbo.
He assisted police with their inquiries and was arrested before the matter moved on to the East Dubbo residence.
“The detectives then executed a warrant of the Cardiff Arms Avenue residence where a quantity of substances, believed to be prohibited drugs, were found,” Insp Scott said
“Those substances have been sent for analysis.”
At the time of going to press, bail conditions had not been placed on the man and a date for his court appearance was not known.
