Strike Force Belle’s investigation widens

5/09/2008 9:09:00 AM
CHIFLEY Local Area Command police who are investigating a paedophile ring at St Stanislaus’ College yesterday executed more search warrants as they gathered evidence interviewing people as part of Strike Force Belle.

Duty officer Inspector Tony Bell said that Chifley commander Superintendent Mick Goodwin with Crime Manager, Inspector Lance McFawn were heading a group of Bathurst and State Crime Command detectives yesterday.

“There are more activities today, police are executing search warrants and interviewing people,” Inspector Bell said yesterday morning.

“They are gathering evidence - there could be more people charged.”

Inspector Bell said while investigations were continuing in Sydney the Bathurst Police Station has also been heavily involved with incoming calls as the investigation widens.

“The State Crime Agency that involves specialist units are working with the detectives from Chifley,” Inspector Bell said.

“What started out as Strike Force Heador has now expanded to become Strike Force Belle investigating not only St Stanislaus’ but also All Saints’ allegations of misconduct.”

Inspector Bell said yesterday that police had invited the public to come forward to assist police investigations.

He said that many people had already contacted police and urged anyone with information to contact Chifley police or Crimestoppers.
