After a strong display of athleticism during his match against CYMS on Saturday night, Anthony Egan-Smith was named as the Dubbo RSL Club under-18s player of the grand final.
The front rower was surprised to have won the award and made credit to his team-mates and coaches in receiving his medal.
Smith played a strong defensive game in Macquaries 12-10 win over CYMS and said he was stoked with how his side performed.
“We really dug in and pushed ourselves,” Egan-Smith said.
“I played alright, we had our front rower Ben McQuillan taking us forward but all of the boys played well,” Egan-Smith said.
“My team is just unreal, the best team I have ever played with.”
Other outstanding individual performances on the night came from team-mates Brodie Chapman and Justin Toomey.
Chapman led from the front as captain and showed his strength when making hit-ups in attack.
Toomey was the leading try scorer for the grand final, racking up both of his teams tries through some strong line running.
